It’s long been known that smartphones are pocket sized computers. The Chromebit, then, asks, why are laptops and actual computers still so big? Asus and Google have teamed up to bring the Chromebit CS10, a small HDMI dongle that can at like a full on PC.
It’s the Size of a USB Drive with One Hell of A Punch
Asus and Google’s Chromebit comes with a quad-core Rockchip RK3288-C processor, an integrated Rockchip Mali T764 graphics chip, 2GB of RAM and a total of 16GB of storage. It also has an HDMI port and supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. That’s all in 2.6 ounces and 4.8″.
Asus and Google’s Chromebit is a Small Computer that Can Run Full HD Video
The Chromebit can be plugged into any TV or display with an HDMI port. It can also connect it to a Bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse. With this, it basically runs exactly like a PC. It runs on Google’s Linux Chrome OS, which handles web tasks fairly well.
While not Windows or OS X powered, this marks the start of what could mean big things for Google and Asus. It handles web browsing fairly well, as well as YouTube and game and video streaming. It also works well as a kiosk for business establishments, according to Asus.
The Chromebit Will Be Available Through Amazin, Fry’s and Newegg
Asus and Google’s Chromebit can be bought at retailers in Canada, Australia, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Japan, Norway, Spain, Taiwan, Sweden and the UK. The device gets launched on November 17 with a starting price of $99.
