Skype is bringing video calling and messaging something brand new: it can now save video messages. Skype, owned by Microsoft, has a few other new features, but most notably, it’s able to do something that FaceTime can’t yet, in addition to three-way calling and a more complex layout.
Skype Saves Video Messages, But Only on Android
If not to further spite FaceTime, the update has only rolled out on the Android version of the app. Skype users on Android can even tap on video messages and save them to their photo libraries. The update also allows Android customers to manage their conversations differently. They can tap onto their Recent tab and customize whether they’d like to mark them as read, delete notifications or mute conversations.
Android Skype customers can also share pictures from their photo rolls in conversations. It also has improved search tools, now able to search for words in conversations and not just for people and contact numbers.
No Word on Skype Update for iOS
There’s no word on when the update will roll out for Mac and iOS users, but Android users can access it via the Google Play Store. The file size for the 6.11 update varies from device to device.
