iPhone Beats Out Samsung in Third Quater

Apple iPhone sales skyrocketed past the rate of Samsung smartphone sales, making Apple effectively beat out Samsung in third quarter earnings for 2015. The rate of iPhone shipments rose 21% since the last quarter, while Samsung trailed behind with a 15% rise.

Gartner Reports that Apple Beats Out Samsung

This doesn’t mean that Samsung is no longer the head honcho of the smartphone world, but Apple is definitely getting ahead. The total number of Samsung shipments for the third quarter was 83.6 million, while the iPhone numbered at 46 million with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus models.

The success of the iPhone came with the launch of both models this past September, both in America and in China, which gave way to this significant rise in sales.  In total, Apple sold a total of 352.8 million units of both models.

What’s the Future for Both of These Companies?

Samsung and Apple have always been head to head in various respects, but its possible that with the release of the Samsung Gear VR headset, things may get shaken up once again. It’s yet to be seen how the iPad Pro will factor into the final quarter earnings for Apple. Both companies are currently in favorable conditions, so only time will tell what is in store for both.
