It seems like Russia is up to their conniving ways once again. It what is disguised as an effort towards world protection, may just be an excuse for the Ruskies to blow something up with nuclear force. This comes in the form of modifying old missiles to destroy asteroids before they hit Earth. Whether this is true or not, we may never know. It has certainly got the attention of NASA though.
BREAKING NEWS: U.S AND RUSSIA THINK DIFFERENTLY
The U.S and Russia have never exactly seen eye to eye. The Cold War may be over (supposedly) but the differences still remain intact. This latest information proves that Russia still retains that “shoot first, ask later” mentality. Using modified, intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), Russia hopes to shoot down any potential asteroid before it makes its landing on the Motherland like it did in 2013. Since these are rockets designed for international war and not space travel, one can assume that NASA isn’t happy.
NASA USES LOGIC TO FIGHT OFF ASTEROIDS
With a calm and logical approach, NASA offers some gentle alternatives to fending off asteroids. Ideally, they intend to shove the asteroids away instead of using ICBM’s like some diabolical, James Bond villian. There are plenty of safer methods. One of these includes kinetic deflection. This involves firing an object into space that would deflect the asteroid from its path. Another option is gravity tractors. While not as cool as the tractor beams one would see in sci-fi, this option uses a spaceships gravity to bump the asteroid into space.
WILL STAR WARS BECOME A REALITY?
Despite NASA’s passive approach to this ordeal, they are still looking into nuclear technology to destroy larger asteroids. Researchers say this is unnecessary due to a large amount of warning we will have if an asteroid is going to hit. We will have decades to prepare for a non-nuclear solution. When asked about their nuclear developments and their thoughts on Russia, NASA was curiously silent. The space agency isn’t famous for its public information, so what are they be hiding.?Are both sides gearing up for a Cold War II in space? Perhaps X-Wings and Tie-Fighters are being built right now and the latest Star Wars film was really just recruitment propaganda for the younger generations. A kid can dream can’t he?
