Cancel your trip to Macon, Georgia and start saving up for Mars. According to NASA, the opportunity will be coming soon. At the moment, it’s just limited to the rich and famous but the space agency says planetary tourism will be a reality.
WILL VIRGIN POP YOUR MARS CHERRY?
Richard Branon’s Virgin will be launching out of New Mexico in a year or two. His version of space tourism is limited to the wealthy, but NASA says this is just the start. Commercial airliners are already starting to get commercial vehicles ready for NASA. This will make the opportunity much more realistic for the every man. It seems that people don’t care Mars is a vast wasteland of hot rock. The beauty of space travel is something everyone can appreciate. Taking off on a Virgin Airlines flight to Mars, with a whiskey in one hand and several e-books in the other seems like a damn good way to spend a few days.
EVEN RUSSIA WANTS IN ON SPACE TOURISM
When Russia shows some enthusiasm about something, one can be sure they mean business. Amidst all this talk about space tourism to Mars, it seems that Russia even wants in on the fun. Just last week they approved reusable rocket designs from the Russian version of SpaceX, KosmoKurs. They hope to begin space travel in 2020. Sending tourists 124 miles about the earth for $200,000 is the plan. Cheap? No. Promising for the future of space travel? Most definitely.
NASA SAYS THIS GENERATION IS READY FOR SPACE TRAVEL
Perhaps more than any generation, it is the current generation that NASA is excited about. Perhaps just 30 years from now, they will be on their way to Mars. Interest in space amongst the younger people is at an all-time high. Previously, people looked to the stars, amazed at the impossibilities. Now, they look at it with a gleaming sense of opportunity. Space is not such a mystery anymore. It’s a frontier. A realm to be conquered. A place where intellect and discovery thrive. The younger generations don’t want NASA to have all the fun. They want to be a part of the exploration. It seems they will get their wish.
