The elusive Aurora spacecraft was caught in action the other day. The video, while beautiful, looks as if the object has been damaged in some sort of way. With rumored threats of Russia targeting U.S. satellites, this may be the beginning of a conflict that NASA will have to deal with, and soon.
RUSSIA MAY HAVE INITIATED SPACE WAR
At first glance, this video from thirdphaseofmoon on YouTube shows the Aurora Spacecraft DARPA in action. However, given a closer look, it just may be possible the spacecraft is damaged. Russia has already threatened an attack on NASA satellites and this could very well be the first strike. At the moment, the video hasn’t been released to the public, so it will be interesting to see how NASA responds if they do at all.
NASA NEEDS TO PREPARE FOR ATTACK
For the past 15 years, the U.S has been invested in various conflicts in the middle east. This is where the majority of their military funds have been funneled. In the meantime, Russia and China have been developing advanced weapons and military capabilities in space. According to one strategist, a sneak attack on NASA satellites resembling a space version of Pearl Harbor is not as ridiculous as it sounds. Sinc ethe end of the Cold War, not only has the U.S become increasingly dependent on satellites, but Russia and other countries have become established a legitimate space presence. If an attack were to happen, the U.S wouldn’t have a way to defend themselves.
HOW TO PROTECT THE FUTURE
At the moment, U.S military planners are debating how to protect NASA assets and satellites that maintain the flow of information from space to Earth. If Russia were to attack, this could easily cripple some key communication devices that the U.S relies on. As the nature of space threats is now realistic, the U.S is looking into anti-satellite weapons and jammers being developed. Previously, the environment in space was a friendly one, but now with the Pentagon’s nuclear early-warning and strategic communication satellites potentially in danger, the threats are becoming all too real for American citizens.
