Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix – 2015

In 2015, Formula 1 will return to Mexico for the first time since 1992. The incredible racing event will take place on Mexico’s Day of the Dead, which is when family and friends gather together to pray for the loved ones who have passed on. It is of historical importance that this years Formula 1 event takes place on such a day.
The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit gets its unique name from brothers Ricardo and Redro Rodriguez. The magic happened when older brother Ricardo, age 19, drove for Ferrari, inspiring the decision to build a 5-kilometre circuit in the public park Magdalena Mixhuca in east Mexico City. It was also due to Ricardo’s rise as a professional racer that helped to build love and public awareness for the sport of car racing. Unfortunately, sometimes with great success, comes great tragedy. Years later, both brothers on separate accounts while racing, tragically crashed and died. The meaning of the event is obvious for the community of people in Mexico City. You will no doubt enjoy attending this heartfelt and exciting occasion, with crowds estimated to reach an approximation of 200,000 people.
After a 23 year absence, fans are in anticipation to attend. There were talks of bringing the event to Mexico City in 2014, but this idea couldn’t materialize due to the fact that the track could not be reconstructed in time. Now, after its full rennovation, track officials will be expanding the race calendar up to 20 races.

The Grand Prix circuit underwent a significant renovation under the direction of Hermann Tilke for the return of Formula One in 2015. The front straight was slightly extended and reprofiled, the iconic esses between turns 7 and 13 were significantly modified; the prolific, high radius turns largely diminished and some replaced with fixed angle turns.
