Why not get away from it all and introduce yourself to some Tahitian culture?  Each year in December, the Bora Bora Liquid Festival takes place, which has been going strong for 15 consecutive years.  You will be able to see the world’s most pristine lagoon, experience joyous celebrations with the locals and get in on the sporty festival action.

Here is a list of some of the sporting events taking place at the festival:

  • Canoe Racing
  • Surf-skiing
  • Standup Paddling Sprints
  • Long-distance Swim competition

Top performance athletes trek to the Tahitian land in Bora Bora to put all their physical capabilities to the max.  The competition does heat up but is always displayed with a playful mind intact.  It’s always nice to see friends and family get together on the beautiful sands amongst cheering and laughter.  Each year the festival appears to grow with athletes new and returning.

There are different other aspects to enjoy outside of sport activities.  You will also find live entertainment, DJ’s spinning it up, some awesome barbecues and some incredible Tahitian styled dancing in the most traditional sense.  There are also additional tours and shows that make the trip well rounded.  The Tahitian community is known for its friendliness and easy going nature. Those that visit go back home with a new sense of inner calm.

The Bora Bora Liquid Festival came about from a man named, Stephen Lambert.  Mr. Lambert is a world-class aquatic athlete and in 2000 he established the festival event.  The festival was originally called the IronMana and to this day, people still refer to the festival by that name.  If you decide to research online, you may also want to try searching under IronMan for additional resource information.

For those of you that look at the IronMana as a competition to push your boundaries and have serious adventure, it may be a good idea to take a look at this video:  Tahiti Liquid Paradise

With a nice combination of culture and sport, not to mention if you just want to lay out in the sun and learn about culture, you shouldn’t miss out on the Bora Bora Liquid Festival.
