Marriott continues to make strides not only in its marketing endeavors but in its initiatives to be in step with technology advances. The company has teamed up with Apple and will be unrolling Apple Pay to select locations and gradually expanding the payment system across additional Hotel branches worldwide. Marriott is the first Hotel Company to offer the service to its guests.
What this means for iPhone and Apple Watch users (soon to be) is that you will be able to use the Apple Pay app to make traveling even easier.
There will be contactless reader at the front desk and all you have to do is swipe your device across the reader without contact and your payment information gets securely captured. Walla! You won’t have to deal with the annoyance of putting your luggage to the side, taking out your wallet or purse, fumbling for your credit card and swiping it manually and on and on. With Apple Pay and App Technology things get a little easier for you and that’s really the whole point, isn’t it?
Marriott expects to start rolling out Apple Pay this summer beginning at these eleven hotels:
- Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel
- The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park
- San Jose Marriott
- New York Marriott Downtown
- The Ritz-Carlton Washington D.C.
- EDITION Miami
- Residence Inn Los Angeles L.A. Live
- JW Marriott Chicago
- San Francisco Marriott Marquis
- Courtyard Chicago Downtown/North River
- Courtyard Los Angeles L.A. Live
- San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront
“Approximately 75 percent of our guests travel with one or more mobile devices, and it is even higher among 25-35 year olds – a group that will make up a much larger proportion of our guests over the next three years,” said George Corbin, senior vice president, Marriott Digital. “Millions of customers already use Marriott Mobile to quickly book a hotel, check-in, or check out. Now, Apple Pay can make it virtually effortless.”
This is yet another smart move on Marriott’s part, proving that it is keeping up with the times and continues to focus on providing its customers with the ultimate travel experience. Let us know what your experience is like when you start using the system.
