Newly Released Apple Watch Apps Make Travel Easier

Yesterday, Apple released a whopping 3,000 new apps for its new Apple Watch. Although the watch itself was not made available until today, Apple has gained a lot of press with the early release of the applications. Accordingly, tech groups have already gotten the chance to peruse through the options and picked out their favorites.

New Updates On Apple Watch Apps

The majority of the Apple Watch apps are not actually installed on the smartwatch, but are extensions of iPhone apps. The Apple Smartwatch has to be connected via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to the iPhone for the apps to work. Only a handful of the features will work without the connection.

Anyone with an iPhone can check out the new smartwatch apps by clicking on the Apple Watch app that is already installed on the iOS 8.2 iPhones. This will take users to the Apple Watch App Store, which offers many options related to health and fitness, travel, and communication, among other genres.

Making Travel A Breeze Through Technology

Some of the best Apple Watch apps include programs that make travel easier. For example, there are many third-party created applications that can help users with a variety of tasks – from contacting an Uber car when you need a ride to learning a new language through the Babbel app.

Airline flight applications, which provide users with alerts, check-in notifications, and information on checked baggage, are also available from several airlines, including Alaska Air, American, Air Canada, Delta, Emirates, JetBlue, British Airways, United and SAS.

In addition, there is a hotel-booking app from HotelTonight that helps you find room based on the geographic location of your smartwatch. Another hotel app, Booking.com, shows where vacancies are, gives you driving directions to the hotel, tells you your room number and alerts you when your room is ready. There are also apps from large travel companies such as Priceline, Cleartrip, and Expedia Orbitz – some of which are becoming increasingly advanced. The app from the Starwood hotel chain (Aloft, W Hotels, Element), for example, even allows users to open their hotel room door.

With the Apple smartwatch on your wrist, it is easy to stay organized when traveling. Having all the information you need right on your arm, however, comes at a price ranging from $349 to over $10,000, depending on the style of watch you prefer, of which there happens to be 38 configurations. If nothing else, with over 3,000 new Apple Watch apps, travelers shouldn’t get bored while waiting for their next flight.
