Yemen On Short Supply Of Medicine And Food

In the heart of Yemen, bombing ensues as Saudi airstrikes bombard the area. Yemen has been under attack as Saudi led forces drop bombs on the Iran associated terrorist group Houthi militia. It is a fight for power from the air as the Houthi militia, supporters of former president Ali Abdullah Salah. The coalition of fighters against Ali Abdullah Salah supporters is mainly headed by Saudi forces. The control of Yemen is important because of the mounting effort to pushback extremist organizations in the Middle East. The fighting has led to total destruction of Yemen and the conditions are continuing to get worse.

The citizens of Yemen are fleeing if they can, running for borders and safer areas to escape thieves, Houthi militia and bombs dropped from above their homes, businesses and infrastructure. Resources have also escaped and now there is a shortage of food, water and crucial medical supplies needed to help the sick and wounded. The war torn area has seen over 1,000 deaths, half of which have been reported as civilian.

This region of Yemen hasn’t seen this much bloodshed before and the United Nations and UNICEF have also reported that over 100 children have also died in the conflict.

The Houthis are opposed to Al Qaeda, yet support Islamist extremism in the area. Yemen has been blasted into the last century with nothing more than the shoes on their feet to escape. They have also been trapped by roadblocks and other issues created by the Houthi fighters. This has caused the flow of much needed supplies and medicine to the area to come to a grinding halt. Many people left in the fighting region have become worried about starvation and the need to feed their children, also caught in the fighting.

Telecommunications have also been cut, having little to no ability to communicate with the people in Yemen has led to other issues regarding supplies, and attempted air-drops. It is clear that Yemen is the latest casualty to the ongoing fight against the Islamic Extremists fighting for land and recognition in the Middle East. More damage and lives may be all to soon to follow in the coming days of fighting and famine.

Short-term and long-term aid is needed in Yemen. Here is a video endorsing long-term aid for Gambia made by a non-profit whose goal is to secure a public health system in Gambia:
