Chipotle and ShopHouse Are Killing Us Softly

Chipotle’s Asian spin-off ShopHouse, first opened in 2011, is just becoming a trend. The chain specializes in making rice bowls influenced by the food cultures of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia as well as Singapore are smashed together similarly to how they are in Chipotle’s burritos.

Steve Ells Goes From Mexican to Asian

More than 20 years ago, Steve Ells founded Chipotle with the concept that food served fast can be made sensibly, from the heart, and with our well-being in mind. In short, food served quickly does not have to be like what most people think of when they think ‘fast food’.

ShopHouse counts on this very same mentality, taking after Chipotle with its pledge to serve non-GMO food and making sure that their products are organic and taken straight from farmers’ fields. ShopHouse doesn’t have the biggest variety, but even the pickiest eaters can find something they like in the menu.

One More Fast Food Chain That’s Not Fast Food

ShopHouse Southeast Asian Kitchen is currently in California, Washington D.C., Maryland and Illinois, and it gives people on the run an eatery option that, while serving food quickly, is also healthy. There hasn’t been a word on if they’re actually using good ingredients free of bacteria like E. coli, though, so visit at your own risk.
