The UN is declaring 2015 as the hottest year in history, thanks to man-made global warming and this year’s El Nino. The World Meteorological Organization has confirmed 2015 as the hottest year on record.
Bad News for Planet Earth
The global temperature of the planet this year is 14.57C, or 58.23F. The world has warmed by 1C over pre-industrial times. WMO Director-General Michael Jarraud says the rise could go up to 6C by 2016, but that there is still a chance for the world to have a steady but controlled increase in temperature.
Jarraud: The More We Wait, The Harder It’ll Be
A summit is currently in session in Paris to discuss global warming and the climbing temperatures the seasons are bringing, and Jarraud urges that change is necessary, and in vast amounts.
There is no way to stop climate change, and as much as governments try to implement measures into helping it stop, citizens have to join the effort as well. The reduction of greenhouse gasses can only be done collectively, and the entire population must be vigilant to the changes our planet is going through.
Will 2016 Be Even Hotter?
If there is no change, and depending on how the summit goes in Paris, it’s possible that next year is even hotter. A change is necessary right now.
