Many people probably use Snapchat as an innocent and fun way to communicate with friends. Unfortunately, the pedophiles of the world have their uses for it as well. A manipulative pervert was found taking advantage of a young girl using the app. Here are five things you should know about the crime and how to prevent ones like it.
1. PEDOPHILES CAN USE APP TO GROOM YOUNG GIRLS
A manipulative pervert has recently been jailed after grooming a young girl on Snapchat. The 21-year-old male had sex with the 13-year-old girl after using the app to deceive her. The man eventually ended the relationship due to a pregnancy scare.
2. SHE AGREED TO HAVE SEX
In total, the girl and aforementioned pervert had sex six times. He was actually first contacted by the girl in 2013 but didn’t meet until spring of 2014. It was then that they attended a nightclub and had sex later that evening in his car. Why a nightclub let a 13-year-old girl inside to begin with is another story. What else is interesting is that the girl even agreed to have sex with the pervert in his car.
3. PREGNANCY SCARE ENDED RELATIONSHIP
Pedophiles are not exactly model citizens and neither is this man. He chose not to use protection in their short-lived, Snapchat sex relationship. As a result, the young girl was scared she may be pregnant so the man ran off, not contacting her on the app until the scare was gone. They then met up one more time before she realized that the 21-year-old male may have just been using her for sex

One of the features of the Snapchat app is that people can take screenshots of any Snap you send them. Yes, even pedophiles. You never know you could be your friend when sending a picture so it’s best to play it safe and only take appropriate pictures. Keep communication between friends only as well.
5. THINK OF YOUR FUTURE
Besides the danger of pedophiles, think of your future when using Snapchat. Colleges, employers, and family members may find embarrassing pictures of you from the app. It just takes one slip up for that to happen, no matter how careful you may be. While it may not be as dangerous as pedophiles, your reputation should be an important thing to look after.
