Imagine traveling at speeds in excess of 700 mph. You could commute to work states away. Or travel between cities to see family and friends without worrying about time lost. This could all be possible with the Hyperloop. And now you can join a crowdfunding campaign that would bring the rLoop and Hyperloop a reality. Going from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 30 minutes would be almost as good as time travel. If you have ever driven the I-5 corridor from the Bay Area to the Grapevine, you can relate. The rLoop is a Hyperloop pod sparked from the SpaceX engineering competition to end this year.
Remember the SpaceX, Tesla Hyperloop?
Before driverless electric cars and colonizing Mars began trending, the Hyperloop was big news. Many of you may have forgotten all about it, yet it still is on the drawing board. In fact, the rLoop crowdfunding campaign is a way to boost enthusiasm for Hyperloop pod engineers. The Hyperloop project was celebrated as one of the most exciting transportation advancements in history. To get the project moving forward, SpaceX announced an open competition for engineer teams to develop pods.
The rLoop Pod Project
The rLoop engineer team is the only non-student team selected. Designing a SpaceX pod that will travel at 700 mph on the Hyperloop presents many challenges. Dealing with rolling resistance from wheels, power issues, and pressure build up at the front of the pod during travel were all big challenges. However, the rLoop team was determined to overcome those design barriers. The members of the rLoop design team are from 15 countries. They presented their design at the SpaceX and Tesla Competition and were victorious.
Will the Hyperloop Destroy the Heart of America’s Transportation?
What will become of America’s transportation system if the Hyperloop is successful? Trains, railways, and even airlines would see a drop in sales. No more two-hour prior to boarding check-in at LAX, or smelly Amtrak boxcars. The Hyperloop could revolutionize the transportation industry. But where to put the Hyperloop line is also a big question. There were rumors upon its inception that the first line would be built along the I-5 corridor from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Meaning a whole lot of red tape to cut through for SpaceX and Mr. Musk.
