An extreme weather phenomenon caught on film has garnered attention but not due to the usual reasons. While it certainly is evidence of a magnificent thunderstorm, the real concern lies within the mysterious red lighting. UFO hunters are calling this more proof of alien existence.

WEIRD WEATHER OR ALIEN PROOF?

One would think that by the year 2016, we would have a firm grasp on how weather systems work. However, it seems there are still a few mysteries out there regarding lightning. One of these mysteries was captured on film recently in Hawaii and showed red veins of lightning coming from the sky above a raging thunderstorm. Many UFO hunters think this may be an effect from some alien ship while others think it might just be a rare phenomenon.

UFO JELLYFISH

For the uninformed, the red bolts of lighting may look like a UFO jellyfish from “War of the Worlds” but we can all relax. This is no alien spaceship but  instead, sprites. Sprites are extremely quick and faint discharges that happen far above thunderstorms. Most thunderstorms producing clouds max out at a dozen kilometers or so in height, but sprites occur 50-90 kilometers up the air. The reason they are so rare and often confused with alien UFO’s is because their speed makes it extremely hard to photograph. It was only until recently when more advanced cameras have been developed that these events are more common.

NASA HAS PROOF OF SPRITES

For those still wondering if this video of the sprites was fake, NASA is here to convince you otherwise. You won’t here NASA say this is an alien or UFO but they will confirm that sprites exist. Images taken from the ISS have various pictures of sprites forming over the Earth. Their supreme vantage points lend itself well to capturing this elusive phenomenon. So worry not Earthlings, these are not evil jellyfish unleashing their wrath on humanity. Instead, it’s just a strange weather phenomenon created by NASA to keep us from finding out the real truth: an electric, soul-sucking death machine that steals the life from humans everywhere. Ok, that’s probably not it either but a little creativity never hurts.
