Toronto Uber has been facing a lot of hostility, and a taxi driver was dragged over 20 meters in downtown area. In his defense, the taxi driver was only looking to get the Uber drivers’ attention.
Taxi Drivers in Toronto Are Protesting Uber
According to the taxi driver community, Uber drivers are violating bylaws and are cutting onto their bottom line. The driver involved in the incident, who has been in the business for 22 years, was looking to get the driver’s attention and enlighten him on the movement.
The incident was called ‘frightening’, and since then, Toronto Uber has spoken with both the Uber driver in question and the passenger involved. No one involved was harmed. The taxi driver was not unaggressive either, as he pounded on the Uber driver’s window as it was stopping near a traffic signal.
The confrontation begins when the taxi driver pounds on the window of the Honda as it’s stopped near a traffic light. He even tried to open the car’s side door, but in a natural reaction, the Uber driver drives on until it is forced to stop at the red light.
Will Toronto Uber Be Taken Down?
Many cities have protested against Uber, banning the service to make pick-ups at airports and other centers. Toronto has gone full scale, and not entirely in a positive way. The Toronto Mayor has discouraged these activities, and citizens are calling for the man in question to be arrested.
Violence leads nowhere, especially where it is uncalled for. Though there were many demonstrators, this is not the kind of publicity they would want to receive. Hopefully the man will be brought to justice as he should be. This bears badly for Uber as well, as there could have been a chance that the man was harmed, so the Uber driver involved is giving the company negative press as well.
