Two years have passed since the release of the iPhone 6, and consumers are ready for what Apple has planned next. The iPhone 7 has not yet been announced, but numerous leaks have given the world a glimpse into the future Apple may have planned for its new device.
iPhone 7 Not Jacking Around Anymore
If all of the rumors are true, Apple will be dumping the headphone jack in favor of a slimmer iPhone 7. Apple stretched the screen for the iPhone 6 back in 2014, and now they look to do the same for the 7 by doing away with the 3.5mm headphone jack. Users will still be able to use their wired headphones, by plugging them into the lightning port.
Cameras, Connectors, and Sensors Oh My
On top of the absent headphone jack and a slimmer design, the leaked image of the iPhone 7 depicts a few other changes. At the base of the phone is a smart connector, much like the one on the iPad Pro. The smart connector will connect the phone to smart devices such as a keyboard, without the need for Bluetooth. Rumors indicate there will be sensors at the top of the iPhone 7. These sensors will optimize the phone’s display based on its surroundings. The image also depicts a rear dual camera with a larger lens.
No Word from Apple, Yet
Any rumors at this point are purely speculation. Every year it seems the new iPhone is the worst kept secret, with leaks and rumors coming from all sides. Apple hasn’t made any announcement about the iPhone 7, but they’re not shutting down any rumors either. If Apple continues with their recent release cycle, they will announce the next iPhone in early September. The phone will then release a few short (agonizing) weeks later.
