Mark Zuckerberg expressed that Facebook’s goal is to bring an AI that can recognize anything that’s in an image or a video, understand and relay information about it. They’re hoping to develop artificial intelligence that an translate speech to text and vice versa, so it can answer any natural language question it’s asked.
Facebook’s AI has already given the company some trouble, with concerns about the AI being able to recognize users that don’t even belong to the social network via Facebook’s DeepFace facial recognition platform.
